Following the recent news of a popular cruise director’s retirement, Carnival Cruise Line has made some clarifications about which cruise directors will be taking over aboard the immensely popular Mardi Gras. Mason has served with Carnival Cruise Line since November 2016, and has served as cruise director on a dozen ships across the fleet, including Carnival Celebration‘s sister ship, Mardi Gras. Completing the duo, Cripps (pictured left) will spearhead Carnival Radiance’s entertainment offerings, including shows, performances and deck parties. From Hertfordshire, England, Cripps is known for his “contagious enthusiasm and positive leadership,” according to Carnival. Magyar is a Texas native who has been working on Carnival ships since 2016. She was also part of the inaugural team for Carnival Horizon and served as the cruise director of Carnival Vista when the ship returned to service in 2021. In January 2022, the cruise line introduced the “Fleet Cruise Director” position to provide further leadership and training to all cruise directors, with popular cruise director Mike Pack becoming the first to hold that title. A cruise director manages the ship’s onboard activities staff, the “Fun Squad” that runs trivia matches, deck parties, games, and other great activities all cruise long. They will also coordinate with the entertainment staff to introduce shows, as well as make announcements to guests about each day’s activities or special notices.
